Ali Milligan:

For the last 10 years, I have worked as a freelancer in Film and Television and have combined this with massage therapy and teaching skiing. A key motivator for me is the ability to help people through my work. I am driven by working with people who, by putting in some work too, make progress whether it be, via skills being taught, coming back from injury, or just re-balancing an over worked body. When I began teaching skiing, I found that I developed a keen interest in understanding how the body works, and having had several injuries which were all dramatically improved by massage and physical therapy, I was inspired to learn more about it.

I studied Swedish Massage with SMTO in December 2008, and after qualifying went on to practice massage in the ski resort of Zermatt, whilst teaching during the day. Realising the powerful benefits massage has, I decided to further my knowledge and returned to Edinburgh to study Remedial and Sports Massage with AMTS in 2010.  In December 2011, I qualified as an Advanced Remedial Massage Therapy with AMTS.

Besides studying and practicing massage, keeping active is very important to me. I have a passion for the hills and mountains as well as the coast, and try whenever possible to get out of the city to walk, climb, scramble or ski, or get out to the coast to sea kayak. An ex-bicycle courier in Edinburgh, I have a thing for bikes and can often be seen pedalling around town, and this Spring I am due to join some local girls in a road biking team.
