- 1. Stop blocking the skin with chemical-ridden products
The best way to start a detox is to STOP PUTTING TOXINS INTO THE SYSTEM! Women use an average of 12 different products per day, but have you ever had a look at the list of ingredient on the packaging? More importantly, can you pronounce any of the ingredients? To extend their shelf life, many manufacturers put plastic and even petroleum based ingredients in hair products, body washes and make up.
- 2. Drink filtered water
Make sure you drink around two litres of filtered or bottled water every day.
- 3. Skin Brushing
Skin brushing is a very effective and cheap method of skin detoxification and lymphatic drainage. Start by getting yourself a long-handled br
istle brush. Always start skin brushing from the feet and work your way up the body, towards the heart.
- 4. Epsom Salt Baths
Epsom Bath Salts is a name for crystals of magnesium sulphate which can be absorbed through the skin. They were named after the town Epsom, England which apparently contains high concentrations of magnesium sulfate in its water. Magnesium is an often overlooked mineral that is needed for over 300 biochemical reactions in the body.
Just use 1 to 2 cups per bath and soak for about 15-20 minutes.
Try taking a hot Epsom Salt bath after body brushing to get an extra detoxifying boost!
- 5. Massage for lymphatic drainage
The lymph system is part of your body's immune system; lymph helps fight infection and acts as a toxin filter. There are around twice as many lymph vessels as blood vessels in your body. However, unlike blood, which is pumped around your body by your heart, the lymph system has no pump. Lymph relies on the pressure from your blood vessels and movement from your muscles to carry white blood cells and antibodies around the lymph system. Because lymph is key to keeping your immune system working properly, improving the flow and drainage of lymph around the body is good for you in lots of ways.
