The whole you
| People today equate the absence of sickness as good health, but what if you could wake up every day feeling genuinely alive?
Sounds too good to be true? Well, it isn't. As Corrective High-performance Exercise Kinesiologist (CHEK) professionals, we are members of a group of therapists who are some of the finest and most highly trained in the world. |
Our approach combines principles of orthopedics, chiropractic, massage therapy, physical and alternative therapies, and strength & conditioning. We are interested in not only your physical needs, but also how this impacts your mental, emotional and spiritual needs; and it is this holistic approach to our work that means you get a real comprehensive assessment of your health. |

What is the process? First and foremost, you must be willing to commit to a lifestyle change where it is needed, and accept that you are the only person that can make real and lasting change for your health. We then give you the knowledge and tools to do it through coaching using the following process:
One-to-one coaching SessionsIf you struggle with motivation, feel you need guidance & tuition, or just want to spend time somewhere other than the gym, we provide one-to-one coaching. We offer exercise coaching and lifestyle coaching. Depending on your assessment, where you are in your life right now and what you feel able to do, Ash & Rachel will determine whether your hour is spent doing exercise or lifestyle coaching, or even half and half! We are very good at providing people with what they want while providing them with what they need. It typically takes 2½ hours and is conducted by Ash Boddy, Edinburgh’s only CHEK Practitioner. We ask you to complete some in-depth questionnaires before the assessment; applied knowledge is power so the more information we have, the more effective your programme will be. The assessment is conducted in the privacy of our studio. We ask people not to eat gluten on the day of their assessment as this can affect the results of testing. Your CHEK programmeYour programme is based on your schedule (because it has to realistically fit into your life!). The programme is based solely on you and you should be the only one using your programme. It is impossible to implement a ‘one size fits all’ approach to fitness, so we do not advise you allow someone else to use your programme. We recommend one or two coaching sessions to ensure that you are comfortable with your programme and have perfected the various techniques we've prescribed. You will automatically be provided with a ptEnhance account where you can access your programme, view detailed descriptions and even watch videos of your exercises being performed as a reminder of correct technique. Depending on your genetic make-up, your programme will need to be updated every four to six weeks. A re-evaluation will be performed prior to advancing your exercise programme where necessary, but should only take one hour. |
