I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember, trying diets and exercise plans with varying degrees of success but not managing to find anything sustainable. I would never normally have considered a personal trainer because the idea was so intimidating, but after meeting Ash I realised that personal trainers didn’t have to be scary! I have been having sessions with Ash for 7 months now and I have lost two stone and at least 20 inches of fat. I no longer associate the gym with feelings of boredom and failure; now I associate it with energy, fun and success! I did a customised package aimed at losing weight and which also allowed me to exercise while recovering from a long-term foot injury.  Ash and I met two or three times a week for three months, each session lasting one hour.  The workouts were a combination of resistance exercises and short cardiovascular exercises. In the first week of each month we learned a new set of exercises. The intensity was increased as the month progressed, until the fourth week when it eased slightly and there was a bit of fun with some new stuff.

Ash was there to advise, encourage and support. You get total commitment from your Boddy Language personal trainer. To get the best results, I recommend that you try to match that commitment. Ask questions, reflect on the exercises in your own time, give feedback so that your trainer knows what you most enjoy and what you struggle with (in my case, a dodgy shoulder precluded my participation in a set of exercises. No problem, an awesome alternative was found …).

There were three great benefits to the programme:

  1. It worked. Weight loss was immediate, steady and sustainable.
  2. It was educational. You learn the principles behind each exercise: it is not mindless activity. Plus you learn about nutrition, the way the body uses energy, how muscles work, and loads of great stuff as you go along.
  3. It was fun and inspiring. You are never bored. The exercises are varied and you strike up an excellent rapport with your trainer, who is genuinely interested in your health, fitness and wellbeing.

The training was so good that I signed up straightaway for another session.  Highly recommended.

After returning from Summer Holidays last year we decided it was time to take charge of our health and fitness in a positive way because despite being gym goers and generally looking after ourselves we wanted to do more, so we sought help from Rachel and Ash Boddy - what a difference! In the six months we have been working with them we have made a significant shift in our approach to fitness and well-being - to the extent that Tanya has now signed up for the Edinburgh half marathon and I have signed up for two triathlons this spring as our near term objectives.

Our regular weekly sessions with Rachel and Ash have built a good base fitness through a combination of gym work and ViPR sessions to develop core stability and targeted development of key muscle groups and now our programs are focused to prepare for our upcoming events. Rachel and Ash have also given us a better understanding of dietary requirements so we have successfully transitioned our already healthy food intake to be better balanced and more suited to complement our exercise and lifestyle. Our children are on this journey with us too and now join us in some of the activities as well, making this an all-round positive family lifestyle change.

Rachel and Ash are key components in the direction and motivation for us - they are great people and totally dedicated to their work in such an inclusive and friendly manner that is both endearing and supportive. Above all, we really enjoy the new lease of life our improved fitness has given us and greatly enhance a positive 'can do will do' approach to life generally. As Ash would say - "Awesome!”.

I have personal training sessions twice a week with both Rachel and Ash.  I had crept up over the years to the obese range and didn’t know how to get back to a healthy weight and a good level of fitness.  I was never keen on gyms got easily bored and would give up.  I have been training for 9 months now and am hooked.  My program changes very few weeks and is so varied (never too long on one piece of equipment) that I have never got bored and the time flies.

I have dropped 2 dress sizes, feel a lot healthier and have a much more positive outlook.  It was a struggle to begin with (changing old and bad habits) but it has got easier and easier. The more I exercise, the less I want to eat unhealthy food and the more exercise I want to do.

Rachel and Ash have been excellent at explaining the benefits of each of the exercises I am doing and how this has made my body function much more efficiently.  I have found that getting 1-to-1 advice on diet and exercise has been the only way for me to steadily lose weight and get fit.

Friends who haven’t seen me for a while remark on how much better I look and how I am more like the old me!! I have no hesitation in recommending Boddy Language. They have given me my body back!
