We met in 2006, when we were both leading very different lives to the ones we have now, working for The HALO Trust; the largest humanitarian mineclearance organisation in the world.  Before meeting, Ash spent nine years in the Australian Infantry, while Rachel worked for other humanitarian organisations in Sudan and Afghanistan.  By 2008 we were both sent to work in Cambodia together. 

After we got married in September 2008, we decided our bodies and minds were too stressed out from the job we were doing and the lifestyle we were maintaining. We decided to return to the UK in March 2009, to re-train to become personal trainers at The European Institute of Fitness, Spain, where Boddy Language was born!

About me:

I became a Personal Trainer because I saw a real need to educate people about how to eat & exercise properly to achieve health and happiness. Despite widespread information and millions of pounds spent on healthcare every year, I continue to see ever increasing numbers of very overweight, unhealthy people all around me! Surely this can’t be right... if you choose to make a genuine and real change to your body, then you know you will have my full support.

After spending a year as a Personal Trainer applying what I would describe as traditional training methods, I found that I was able to get awesome results with some people, but only limited results with others, and couldn't for the life of me figure out why! The answer lay in the fact that I was looking only at my client’s response to exercise, and not at their body as a whole. I have since sought further education through who I consider to be the world's leading expert in the field of Holistic Health and Fitness, and have invested a significant amount of time and money learning how to apply a more holistic approach to all my clients. By applying the simple principles taught by the CHEK Institute, my clients are already reaping the benefits of more consistent results!

Since then I have developed an insatiable hunger for knowledge when it comes to holistic health and fitness, which I hope to share with you as I continue to develop and sharpen my abilities through studying with the CHEK Institute.

About me:

My journey into Holistic Personal Training began whilst leading a highly rewarding but highly stressful job working in developing countries.  As a result of the emotional and mental stress of my job and lifestyle, my body began to respond by leaving me bloated, exhausted and regularly plagued with low-level ailments.  I decided my body and health were too important to let suffer and I was in the fortunate position to change my lifestyle for the better.

On returning to Edinburgh, I realised there are so many people experiencing the same thing but their stresses are constant: work, emotional relationships, hormonal imbalances, medication, traffic, queues, children, and general unhappiness.  I decided to learn to become a Pilates Instructor to help me be better qualified to learn how the body absorbs these stresses and how best to fix it. 

My Realistic Pilates™ qualification has highlighted how important it is to reconnect the mind to the body and increase your physical awareness.  I really enjoy cultivating this awareness with people as it gives them the independence to identify problems and pains, but more importantly FIXING IT FOR THEMSELVES!
